If you require a car during your stay in Cyprus I would suggest you phone around for a quote from a few companies before you leave.

The car hire market is something of a variable feast, with the prices being a function of seasonal demand. It is always cheaper off-peak. It also means that you never seem to get the same quote twice. As always it is well worth pushing for a discount. Do make sure that you are comparing "eggs with eggs" though. Does the price include insurance and if so, what about excess and collision damage waiver (CDW) costs? Are they included?

Watch out for attempted rip-offs on petrol. In my opinion it is always best to agree to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as when you collected it.

In Cyprus they drive on the left hand side of the road so British drivers will feel at home. Do remember that the speed limit is in KPH not MPH and there is usually a police speed check on the motorway, so be careful. There is very little crime in Cyprus so this is one of the police forces' favourite activities. Just like the UK you cannot use your mobile while driving unless it is hands-free.

The drive from Larnaca to Agia Napa takes about 35 minutes and then it is another 5 minutes to Paralimni.
